Natural remedies for high blood pressure

In our previous article, we have seen the basic lifestyle changes needed for maintaining a normal blood pressure. Even after following the basic principles, some may still experience high blood pressure. Today let us see some natural home remedies for high blood pressure.

Garlic
The first, best and the foremost naturally available gift by nature is Garlic. The power of Garlic cannot be undermined. It is such a great medicine that consuming 2 cloves of garlic on a daily basis keeps blood pressure under check. It can be taken raw, however most may not be able to it raw due to the bitter nature of it.

Take 2 to 5 cloves of garlic and boil in a cup of milk for a few minutes until the garlic gets cooked well. Now consume both the garlic and the milk. This is a great naturally available remedy. The other benefits of garlic include the cure from flatulence, increase of blood pressure in the body and providing a good health to the heart.

Onion

Onion is a great enemy for blood pressure. It is said that when you consume one full onion on a regular basis, the blood pressure comes under control. Onion is difficult to be consumed directly. Hence, you can eat other forms of onion like:

Onion Salad is a famous dish in countries like India. Here onion is cut into small pieces and soaked in curd along with salt for 3 to 4 hours. This can be consumed along with food as a side dish. It is a delicious food when eaten with chapathi or Biriyani.

Onion juice can be consumed. You can mix honey along with onion juice.

White onion is the most powerful medicine for blood pressure. However, if white onion is not available, normal onions can be used.

Honey

Honey has a calming effect on the blood vessels. Those suffering from blood pressure can consume one to two teaspoons of honey daily. The specialty of honey is that I can be consumed even by those having diabetes.

A teaspoon of honey mixed with one teaspoon of ginger juice is a great remedy for the body.

Lemon

Lemon is a great remedy for high blood pressure. Those who have the habit of consuming lemon juice frequently will not get infected with high blood pressure. Those having blood pressure need to consume lemon juice frequently on a daily basis. It better to either add salt or nothing when preparing lemon juice.

Fenugreek Seeds

Fenugreek seeds are good remedies for treating diabetes and blood pressure. Before going to sleep, at night, take a spoon of fenugreek seeds and soak in water. When you get up in the morning, during the water and eat the seeds. This can be taken both in the morning and evening. This is a great natural remedy.

Pepper

Pepper is a good remedy for high blood pressure. You can consume pepper in various forms like in vegetable salad, along with soup, with egg, etc. Though pepper is spicy, it is very good for the health unlike chilly.

Banana

Banana is a naturally available fruit which has low sodium and does not have cholesterol. Those having high blood pressure can consume one or two bananas per day on a regular basis. Bananas control the blood pressure to a large extent.

Rauvolfia Serpentine
Rauvolfia Serpentine, commonly called as Indian Snakeroot or Sarpagandha is a great medicine to treat high blood pressure. This herb acts directly on the heart and is used to treat high BP.

Celery

Celery (Botanical Name: Apium graveolens) is a great herb that is available which is used to treat high blood pressure. You can consume a stalk of celery (in raw form) along with one cup of water on a daily basis. Some countries like India have the habit of cooking this greens (Ooma Ilai) as part of food. This can be cooked and consumed on a regular basis.

Cocoa is a naturally available herbal medicine that increases the flow of blood and helps control high blood pressure.

Watermelon Seeds

Watermelon seeds are good for treating blood pressure. Take a spoon of dried seeds, crush them and boil them in a cup of water. Boil the water in slow flame for about half an hour. Filter and consume the liquid. This is a good remedy for blood pressure. It also cures other problems like arthritis, kidney problems, etc.

Other Natural Foods that help reduce high blood pressure

Apart from the above described natural foods, dries apricots, raisins, etc can be consumed. Also spinach, orange, raisins, etc are good for controlling high BP.
