If everything that involves smoking patterns remains the same for the next 10 years, over 10 million people will die from smoking in the year 2020. The problem is growing each year.

Researches made by World Health Organization state that smoking is the second major cause of death in the world today. 10% of all the adults dye because of smoking.

Economy is severely damaged by smoking. Not only that tobacco growing plantations are a problem but also the expenses for medication are very large. The world economy is damaged by the loss of those who were still in their productive years and were killed by smoking.



Last year was reported a loss of 200 billion $ due to tobacco growing. One third of this lost was suffered in developing countries.

Even if smoking actually started in the upper classes, the biggest problem nowadays is in the lower or middle classes. The lack of medical care for people among lower classes is a fact that amplifies the problem.

One out of ten people in the U.S are going to die because of smoking related diseases or complications. There are 48 millions of smokers in the U.S this moment.

The most affected region is Eastern Europe. It is a fact that there 59 % of the adult male population smokes. A lower but significant percent of the female population smokes as well. The average age for starting smoking is 25 but there is a tendency of lowering this average.

It is more likely to die from smoking related diseases if your education or social standard is lower than average .Also, it is a known fact that the better educated you are, there is a higher chance that you will quit smoking and therefore less chances you will die from a smoking related disease. The country you live in is a very influential fact too when it comes to smoking and quitting it.

The biggest group of smokers is native Americans. Also, black people smoke more than white people. Asian people smoke less than all others including latino or white people.

The younger you are when you begin smoking, the higher the chances are that you will die from a smoking related disease. Smoking causes lung, throat or mouth cancer, other pulmonary diseases like bronchitis or pneumonia. Also you risk impotency, strokes or heart attacks when you begin smoking.

This lesser known smoking facts should make you think twice when you light up your cigarette or when you see your son doing it in front of you. There are many products or methods that can help you quit smoking and live a healthier life. All you need to do is decide which one suits best for you and find the willpower to begin a treatment.
