Detox or detoxification is the method of eliminating toxins from the body through proper cleansing of harmful chemicals (normally known as colon) or neutralizing its harmful effects on the body. Exposure to the environment, food and drug intake is the major sources for the entry of colons into body. With the rise in number of toxins in the form of pesticides, pollutants, smoke, etc. impairing the smooth functioning of the body, detox is essential to strengthen the body’s mechanism against the harmful substances. An ineffective diet can result in the accumulation of the toxic materials impairing the natural mechanism to drive off the harmful chemicals leading to hormonal imbalance, reduced metabolism and weakened immunity system.
