How many times has it happened to you to watch the Olympics and wonder at the strength and potency athletes, gymnasts, wrestlers display all these ending up with winners to your country's pride? Indeed they are a pride to your nation and in your point of view you see them as real heroes and role models to follow. But have you asked yourself how much work, personal sacrifice lay behind all these winnings?
Yes, sacrifice is also to be taken into account for a sportsman if we think of one's craving for a meal that he/she is not allowed having! And no matter we talk here about athletes, gymnasts or skiers, they all have to obey the same rule: tough workouts and nutrition plans that have to comply with their needs.
One may reply: "OK, it is a sure fact that they must go by strict programs whenever it comes to training exercises, but do they have to leave aside a good meal and follow certain diets?" The answer is "yes": athletes in their attempts to reach the peaks of performance have to go by diets that are coordinated by specialized nutritionists.
It is known that breakfast are considered to be the healthiest meals of the day, therefore nutritionists recommend the consumption of healthy food during breakfast times in order to render the body the amount of energy necessary for the workouts. This food has to be rich in fats, proteins, and carbohydrates.
Some may object and say that fats, for instance, are not that healthy, but they are however seen as important elements inside the nutrition plans. The explanation lies in that they are stored inside the body becoming an insulator for other important organs. In their new shape as insulator, fats can act as a constant fuel from where a longer activity in training charges its batteries.
As to proteins, everybody knows that they work as healers when there are broken tissues and muscles. Proteins, no matter how you take them, are good for our body whether we are sport people or not and their presence inside our body is more than welcome. Moreover, when a tissue is broken there is a high degree of using these proteins, this is the reason why sportsmen are prone to take them in larger doses than usual.
Last, but not least, it has to be mentioned the fact that carbs are known to be processed into glucose and at this point it is delivered further to the entire body.
Once a nutrition plan is established for an athlete, he should pay also close attention to drinking water. Water plays an important role in keeping up with the needs to perform a hard work. During training exercises, there is plenty of sweating going on, and as such loss of water which needs to be replaced in order to keep the body hydrated and able to perform at its levels of potencies once the nutrition plan is outlined for the specific sporting activity.
